The many things that have happened
By liz • Feb 26th, 2009 • Category: Production BlogI’m going to make the link that the delay since my last post may have something to do with the fact that we’ve now been in 10 different hotels since we arrived about three weeks ago. Considering that the whole first week was spent in New York, that’s a lot of moving around. But since that’s kinda the point, I’m not going to complain! Here’s a bit of the highlights…
After leaving Chicago, our first big stop was Metropolis, Illinois. Any comic book readers (or anyone who’s ever seen a Superman film) will probably be able to figure out why we went there…. because the town certainly has. This town has permission to officially call themselves the home of Superman and they have the enormous Superman statue, as well as Jim Hambrick’s Super Museum, to commemorate this.
Next stop was St Louis, where we spoke to Peter Coogan of the Institute for Comic Studies. We had a great conversation with him about the place of comic books in American culture and he particularly had a lot of interesting things to say about superheroes. You’ll all be able to see what I’m talking about when the film comes out!
Lastly, we’ve spent the last day and a half in Kansas City. While there, we had a chance to get a bit of the retailers’ perspective when we interviewed William Binderup from Elite Comics. If you’re in that area, you should definitely check out the store.
By this time tomorrow, we’ll be in San Francisco and I’m sure there’ll be more updates from there!
